Every major sport event is a source of huge scandals and passionate contradictions as tempers of sportsmen and fans get really hot. The Olympic Games is one of the most passionate competitions so there is no wonder that there is always a number of scandals following this event.
Such innocent thing as animated logo of the Olympic Games 2012 has provoked twelve registered cases of epilepsy within a few hours since it appearing in the Internet. The Olympic Committee removed this emblem from the official site and claimed that it was animators to blame for the accident rather than the creators of the logo.
The emblem of the same summer Olympic Games 2012 which presents abstract figures 2012 reminded Iran the word “Zion” and caused huge public resonance in this country. So, Iran decided to boycott the event as it views this emblem as Zionistic message.
On the Olympic Games of 2000 a Chinese gymnast Dun Fansao has won the bronze. However, ten years later she was deprived of this medal as it appeared that she was only 14 on the moment of competition while the allowed age of sportsmen was 16. It was not the only case when the age of Chinese gymnasts caused doubts. In 2008 the Chinese gymnasts had to show passports to prove that they are sixteen years old.
As the Olympic Games attract a great number of people from all over the world, it is a perfect target for terrorist attacks. The greatest terrorist scandal occurred in 1972, when the group of Palestine terrorists called “Black September” took hostage of Israel athletes. In the result eleven members of Israel Olympic team as well as a German policeman were killed.
These ones are only a few examples of scandal or dangerous events which often occur on the Olympic Games which prove that such sport competitions should be approached with caution.
