I like watching comedies, but most of them are too banal and typical to be funny. The majority of jokes are devoted to sex, stupidity of teenagers who think only of sex and awkward situations connected with sex or, what it is even worse, with some physiological functions of your body. Original comedies with interesting plot have become a great rarity nowadays. There are only a few movies which I can call humorous in a positive sense.
One of the greatest modern comedies, in my opinion, is “Intouchables”. It tells the story of a disabled man and his personal assistant – sounds pretty banal, but the characters presented make this story really unforgettable. The role of assistant is performed by a young guy who has no responsibility, no respect for established rules and no desire to help the others – the qualities which are essential in his profession. However, he possesses great sense of humor which helps him to make friends with a disabled man and return the interest in life to him. The funniest episode occurs when the heroes visit opera together – the sight of singing tree is comical itself but the comment of the hero makes the audience roar with laughter.
When I need a good portion of laughter first thing I think of is watching some TV series. However, it is not so easy to find really funny comedy, as most of them provide flat humor which can only result in a lemon-like smile. Eventually, my search for some good humorous series to watch has led me to “New Girl” and I recommend you to watch this series, too.
“New Girl” provides a huge doze of optimism even if you are tired from your work day and want nothing but sleep. It is a story of a young woman Jess (who is wonderfully played by Zooey Deschanel, by the way) breaks up with her boyfriend and moves in to live with three single men.
It is hard to believe but in fact humor affects our health positively. According to researches humor even can boost your immune system. First of all laughter reduces negative thoughts and feelings. Laughing you feel yourself happier and luckier. Moreover it reduces effects of stress. Life is stressful and obviously it is inevitable. But laughter helps you to relax. Watching another hilarious sitcom and laughing at the main characters you may forget for a while about your problems and worries. And actually it works.
I have a couple of friends who have been trying to quit smoking. For the 5h time. During the last year. Their quitting smoking is accompanied by nervous breakdowns, outbursts of anger, strange desires, like to put on old German uniforms or go marching on the street. To cut a long story short, these guys really need a systematic approach. So they asked me to write them tips how to quit smoking. To tell the truth, this is the same as to ask a penguin to compose a treatise about long flights, because I have never smoked. But I can’t refuse my friends.

Hat is why happy people can laugh without any reason as their positive needs a constant outcome. On the contrary, those who are in a serious depression will find it hard to smile even if the circumstances are really funny.
